The track is often referred to as papaerclip-shaped and is banked only 12° in the turns. The combination of long straightaways and flat, narrow turns makes hard braking going into turns and smooth acceleration exiting turns a must. The track was paved in 1955 and in 1956 it hosted its first 500 lap event. By the 1970's, a combination of high-traction slick tires and high speed were putting excessive wear on the asphalt surface. In 1976 the turns were repaved with concrete (a rare concept in the 1970's). By 2004, the then 28-year-old concrete had shown significant wear. On April 18, 2004 a large chunk of concrete had become dislodged from the track's surface and caused severe damage to the body of Jeff Gordon's car. In reaction to this, the track was fully repaved with new concrete and asphalt.

And now the track is not only repaved, but also (available at) Revamped.

Credits go to James for making this great track. And I also want to thank our beta testers Danny and Leo.

The track is a complete update, so it has:

  • New and updated billboards
  • New and updated wall signage
  • New and updated (other) logos
  • New and updated infield buildings
  • New cautionlights
  • Revamped pitroad protocols
  • 2008 Spring race pit selection
  • Updated, more realistic infield wall
  • And much more!

Here are some pics.

If you like our track, please consider a donation, because in these though times we really need your support!

ENJOY!!

COY Carset by Sunset Racing released! PDF Print E-mail

5 Months ago, a group of 7 talented painters brought their heads together and thought of something that has not been done before. A list of approximatly 200 cars was developed, and as the season went on, another 38 was added. The painting went through some rough patches, as some of the painters had family members pass away, but we pulled through together, and the end result is fantastic. Ladies and Gentlemen, this is the 2008 COY Carset by Sunset Racing. This is a one-of-a-kind carset with 238 COT's painted on the Cup mod, including 2008 Pit Crews and Ratings for every car. I would like to hand out a special thanks to abuchl for donating some of his pit crews and ratings to this carset, and I would like to extend a huge thanks to Revamped Reloaded, for allowing me to post this carset here. Please take the time to download this carset, and while doing so, perhaps register at Sunset Racing and become one of the 400+ members already at our forum.

Thanks everyone, you wont be disapointed with this carset, and if you would like to leave a comment on the Revamped forums, please do so!
